A Typical Day On The Ahansel River

Multi day trips are our speciality. We run them worldwide and will make sure you have the best experience possibly and exceed your expectations. You'll wake up to the smell of freshly brewed Arabica coffee or a cup of tea delivered to your Berber Tent. We'll have arelaxed start to the day with people getting up and helping themselves to breakfast laid out on the breakfast tables. On the first day of your trip, the guides will hand out all your equipment and you'll get a comprehensive safety talk and paddle instructions from your Trip Leader.

With all your rafting gear on, wetsuits, booties, spray jackets, life jackets, helmets and paddles, we begin our Ahansel River descent. We get to practise on the first few corners, before we challenge "The Wall" and "Fake Left Go Right" down the first section of river. The rapids come thick and fast and plenty of manouvreing is required as your guide gives paddle commands and you follow the experienced safety kayaker down the river. Don't forget to smile as our photographer captures all those exciting moments and not so sexy facial expressions in the midst of the rapids. After "Wee Stinky" we get to a stunning section of whitewater, literally thrill a minute rafting!

After a thrilling morning rafting on the Ahansel River, its time to stop for some lunch on the side of the river. Several options exist whether it is stopping at one of the bridges crossing the river, where you'll get to swim and relax on the warm rocks, or take a hike up to one of the many Kasbahs in the area. Lunch consists of fresh salads and cold meats, as well as sweet pastries and fruit. After lunch, have a siesta and we'll let you know when we are ready to head on downstream.

The afternoon section rafting down the Ahansel on the first day is excellent. We briefly walk around one rapid called the Mill and then we are into another fun filled section with "The Squeeze" and "Rock The Casbah" Being the first commercial rafting operator in Morocco, we had the priveledge of naming many of the rapids on this river. Still a few to name of the hundreds you'll experience, so perhaps a chance to become famous! Early afternoon, we will reach camp in time for a hike up the nearby peak and then return to camp for sundowners and a drink from the cash bar.

Relax with your fellow paddlers around the roaring campfire and enjoy a sumptuous meal prepared by our guides and Berber team. Sample Spaghetti Bolognese or chicken curry followed by cake or apple crumble. On these trips, you won't go hungry! Relax on the chairs in camp. We have perfected the art of making camping comfortable. Then, fall asleep to the sound of the river, or stay up for a drink and watch the light of the fire, light up the canyon walls. This place is spectacular.

ON THE LAST DAY OF YOUR TRIP, you'll be towed across the lake of Bin El Ouidane and get collected and taken for a sauna or soak in the hot tub at the spectacular hotel on the banks of the lake. Buy yourself a beer or drink from the bar and relax overlooking the lake as you are served a wonderful lunch. We then take the drive back to Marrakech, with the guides entertainment!
